Dearest friends of the Holy Land, when asked what the first step towards conversion is, Saint Augustine responds that the first and only step is humility. In this time in which the Church invites us into the desert to be reborn spiritually and rediscover our place before the Lord, among men and women, and in the world, may the Lord grant us to reacquire this virtue. Through it we will be able to renounce the cult of ourselves (ego-latry) and the cult of things (idolatry) to follow the cult of the true God who also humbles himself to raise us up and save us.
Let us have a special prayer for all the victims of war and injustice in the world.
