According to the Jewish tradition, 50 days (Pentecost) after Passover an agricultural festival was celebrated: the harvest festival or festival of weeks (Ex 23.16; 34.22; Dt 16.9-12). This festival marked the end of the harvest of the wheat. For us today, Pentecost is the celebration of the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples accompanied by Mary and by extension, on us who form the Church of today.
In Pentecost, we celebrate the fidelity and benevolence of Christ towards his disciples and towards us.
The Holy Spirit, if you will allow me an agricultural or culinary comparison, is like a fertilizer, a ferment or a yeast: he transforms, multiplies, makes fruit bear. The world is this great field of the Lord which continues to be sown by the Gospel of Christ.
May the Holy Spirit, God's supreme fertilizer, continue to multiply our works of evangelization and charity and make them bear abundant fruit.
The preliminary survey for the digging of a well for the local community in the village of Bot-Makak (Cameroon), financed by ENG’s donation (see blogspot post of 24/12/2023) was successfully completed. The digging effort will take place in the first half of June.
